region about twenty two kilometers from aburi.

here are mostly peasant farmers.
Inspite
of the progress made in providing boreholes for them, more needs to be done to
protect children and their families from illnesses that result from unsafe
drinking water.

from the only borehole takes time to flow, and residents have resorted to the
asua yaa stream for all domestic purposes.

to a unicef reports, unsafe and inadequate access to safe water and sanitation
services coupled with poor hygienic practices kill thousands of children every
day.

report late for school because they spend long hours from the stream to their
homes.

weekends, they spend large part of their day fetching water.
