KPOTAME GETS WATER

help has now reached the people of kpotame, in the south tongu district of the volta region, eight weeks after tv3's report on acute water shortage in the community.

three boreholes are to be sunk for residents courtesy, president, jerry john rawlings.

on february, 10 2013, tv3 broadcast the acute water shortage in kpotame, in the south tongu district of the volta region.

residents used water from a muddy pond sharing it with cattle

the pond is now dried up, over 3500 people relied on the muddy pond,  if one is unable to buy water from polytanks at exorbitant price.

 agboja and her sisters collect the muddy water for use everyday

 the effect is evident, waterborne diseases are prevalent.

in the midst of the acute warer shortage, the volta lake flows abudantly through the area.

some weeks after our report, the former president of ghana, jerry john rawlings responded, supplying three boreholes for the community.

one is located close to the kpotame clinic, another is cited close to the dam site, while a third is in the centre of the community.

work was busily in progress.


the expression on the faces of people here in kpotame says it all.


Indeed, water is a precious commodity for residents .

we called on the former president who lauded the news team for bringing the plight of ghanaians to the public.
